Phase 1 of Dr. Simeons’ original plan begins with the intake of high calorie foods so the metabolism will be primed for Phase 2—low calorie diet and hCG hormones.

Trudeau’s method adds one more phase to Dr. Simeons’ original protocol. It’s up to you which plan to follow and which you feel the most comfortable with. Followers of both plans seem to have the same degree of weight loss, so choosing either Simeons’ or Trudeau’s protocol shouldn’t make a difference in the results.

Simeons’ hCG Phase 1 proceeds as follows:

Day 1 and 2: Consumption of high calorie foods. There is no menu for this portion of the diet plan, but Simeons recommends eating creams, sauces, pasta, avacados and other foods high in fat calories.

Day 3: This day begins Phase 2 of Simeons’ protocol. You’ll start a highly restrictive, 500 calorie per day diet, eating the portions and types of foods as outlined in Simeons’ protocol. Also on day 3, you’ll begin taking 125 i.u. per day of the hCG hormone in injection, oral drops or pill form. Injections are only given once per day, but the oral drops and pills may need to be taken more often, depending on the strength of the hCG.

Continue with the restrictive diet and hCG hormone plan for 21 to 45 days depending on how much weight you need to lose. After finishing the hormones, you should continue on the low calorie diet for another three days, at least.

Phase 3 of Simeons’ plan lets you begin adding other foods to the diet, but you should still restrict your calories and eat fat free foods. You’ll also have stopped taking the hCG hormone. Phase 3 also involves maintaining your weight loss. You shouldn’t crave high fat foods as you once did.

Both Trudeau and Simeons advocate an extremely low caloric intake (500 calories) during hCG Phase 2. This important phase is designed to reset your metabolism by stimulating the hypothalamus gland. Simeons’ found that this same hormone (hCG) that was responsible for carrying nutrients to a pregnant woman’s fetus could also help cure obesity.

When Trudeau tried Dr. Simeons’ weight loss protocol, he tweaked the diet a bit – adding seasonings and trying new recipes that didn’t compromise the diet, but that made it more interesting. His theory is that in today’s world when we’re so used to highly seasoned fast foods, it would be next to impossible to stick to the blandness of the diet Simeons calls for.

The hCG diet and weight loss plan is a multi-stage protocol that only works if you follow it explicitly and use the hCG hormone in the form of injections, oral drops or pills to help reset the metabolism. It’s actually a scientifically designed plan that utilizes specific foods, combined with the hCG hormone, to change the way your body processes food.

Trudeau’s plan also calls for taking dietary supplements during Phase 2, but this isn’t necessary according to Dr. Simeons’ protocol. If you follow the diet explicitly, you should be getting the vitamins and nutrients you need, but if you’ve been taking supplements and want to continue, by all means do so.
